Appeals court upholds bar on Kentucky lingerie store to use particular name

A Kentucky store that sells bridal lingerie set and other underwear products will have to settle with another name after the federal appeals court decided to uphold the decision for it to change its current names “Victor’s Little Secret” and “Victor’s Secret.”

The US Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals voted 2-1 in favor of ordering the Elizabeth-town based business to change its name because it gives a negative impact on the recognized retailers such as Victoria’s Secret which could inadvertently destroy the latter’s business.

Business owners Victor and Cathy Moseley have been banned from using similar names two years ago and the latter appealed this to the higher court.

According to written decision by Judge Gilbert Merritt, the newly implemented law has made it possible to protect trademarks from any negative sexual association with other businesses trying to get similar names to it.

Kure Beach mayor sticks with the “Thong Ban”

The mayor of Kure, Beach in North Carolina stands by his decision on the ban of thong swimwear in this beachside town.

The city ordinance has been implemented two weeks ago and so far there has been a lot of protests and noise regarding this issue.

The mayor has been interviewed about the possibility the council being sued by the people due to this and he said that he won’t be surprised if this happens.

This week, the mayor sent the council members a letter containing his threat to resign from his post because he will stick to his conservative views about the matter. He stressed that wearing of the thong swimwear in public can be distasteful and he does not want families to be offended when they go to the beach.

The town council voted unanimously to ban thong swimwear.

Iconic lingerie boutique owner retires after forty years

June Kenton, the owner of popular lingerie boutique store Rigby & Peller, has finally called it a day after forty glorious years of bra fitting. She’s currently 73 and decides to spend more time with herself and her family.

Rigby & Peller was founded during the World War II and it has gained prominence after Queen Elizabeth II became a frequent customer of the establishment. With this popularity, world-renowned celebrities and rock stars have flocked to this establishment to purchase. In her latest music video, Lady Gaga was seen wearing a Rigby & Peller creation. Other popular customers include Margaret Thatcher, Gwyneth Paltrow and Renee Zellweger.

Kenton revealed that back then that the biggest cup size she fitted and created was a C. In the seventies, it increased to a D and currently, the sizes has gotten bigger – going to as big as a size J.

Designer lingerie as outerwear a growing trend

The use of designer lingerie is no longer intended for sleep or for lustier acts in the bedroom because it has become a growing trend that these sexy outfits can be used as outerwear.

Night Owl Designer Lingerie Manager Saxon Wolf said that undergarments are becoming a streetwear fashion. He added that this has been a trend for a while now with more women trying on silk camisoles, lacier bustiers and satin garter belts.

Wolf’s business is located at the Manulife Place in Edmonton, Canada.
The trend reportedly started with fashion designer John Galliano who emphasized corsets and garters in last year’s Christian Dior couture collection. A few months after his successful show, he experimented with teddies under blazers and added more lace to the upcoming Dior’s Spring 2010 ready to wear line.

Other top fashion houses have joined the bandwagon such Stella McCartney and Chanel.

Lingerie model believed to run large drug ring – reports

Former satin lingerie model Angie Sanselmente Valencia is believed to be a ring leader of one of the world’s largest drug rings. This was revealed by international authorities following the release of an international arrest warrant for the thirty year old beauty.

According to reports, Valencia recruits beautiful women and uses them to move drugs to North America and Europe. These women are said to be fellow lingerie models or beauty queens who are scheduled to compete in international beauty pageants. The strategy has worked for a long time since these women are only perceived as travelling beautiful women.

Authorities suspect that Valencia is currently on the run somewhere in Argentina or Mexico. Her operations were exposed last December after one of the models blew the whistle after she was caught with a 55-kg cocaine at Buenos Aires airport.

Lingerie expert says wearing the best fit bra makes the woman looks slim

Lingerie expert Jené Luciani said that choosing the best bra that fits could mean losing up to ten pounds in ten seconds.
Luciano gave this interesting information on her new guide book called “The Bra Book: The Fashion Formula to Finding the Perfect Bra.”

The 32-year old expert said that having the right bra could make the wearer look thinner. She was quoted as saying that this holds up lingerie is a powerful “little piece of fabric.”

She said that users can go for classy black shirt or white button-down shirt and letting the top part of a black lacy bra peek through. The author revealed that there are bras in the market that lets the wearer remove the padding from either of the cups to adjust with the size. She added that women can have one breast smaller than the other which could be a result from a surgery.

Supermodel Heidi Klum ventures in maternity wear business

German supermodel Heidi Klum has reportedly ventured into maternity wear business. According to reports, Klum will be launching her products ranging from fine maternity lingerie and other maternity wear via A Pea in the Pod company by February 12, 2010.

Klum ventured into this for this first time since she closed her jewelry line in August last year. Her venture is said to be timely since fashion designers Jean Paul Gaultier, among others, have decided to make clothes that accentuate the baby bump.

The “Project Runway” host’s collections will have be a bit sophisticated and will be called “Lavis” for A Pea in the Pod. The range also includes elegant evening dresses, casual and comfortable maternity wear for the brand’s partner company Motherhood Maternity via the label “Loved.”
The collections are slated to become available in the US stores on February 12, 2010.
